Luang Prabang – UNESCO World Heritage Site

Luang Prabang, the historic and cultural soul of Laos has (unsurprisingly, for anyone who has stayed at the Luang Prabang View Hotel and has therefore experienced this wonderful city) been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. UNESCO (the United Nations Economic, Scientific and Cultural Organization) gives this rating only to places which are deemed to be of utterly outstanding benefit to humanity, whose loss would be a terrible blow. This can be for reasons of stunning beauty, great historical significance, an irreplaceable cultural role, or other unique aspects. Luang Prabang was a shoe-in for World Heritage Site status – as it has all of these in spades.
